Steady Brook, NFLD
St. John’s, NFLD
The Beast of the East. Marble is located in the heart of the Humber Valley and is standing at 518 metres.
With an average snowfall of nearly 500 cm a year, it’s steep and deep. It’s also home of the only high-speed quad in Atlantic Canada, and features some of the best slack country, even though out of bounds skiing is frowned upon.
The terrain here is more aggressive than the rest of the region, but there are still a few easy-way-downs. Snowmobile rentals are located at the base lodge, along with year-round zip lining on one of the highest zips in Canada.
Summer can be spent hiking around the mountain, renting ATVs or taking in a side-by-side tour, floating down the Humber River or swimming in the Steady Brook Falls. You can also have a go at the high ropes course, check out some local caves with a tour company, or head out on a mountain bike in a number of different areas. There’s more stuff to do here than you can shake a stick at.
