With over 150,000 potential skiers and riders living within an hour or so drive of Big White, it’s little surprise that this resort racks up over a half-million skier-visits per year— second in the province to Whistler-Blackcomb.
With accommodation to suit every budget and tons of bowls, glades, and groomers to explore, Big White offers the total package when it comes to skiing and riding.
Nearly all of Big White’s 15,000-plus beds are ski-in and ski-out (though some are closer to the main Village than others).
Big White’s ultimate run connects the very top of the mountain with the far-flung Gem Lake area. Get off looker’s left at the t-bar and take Whitefoot to Powder Bowl–but keep hanging to the right! Enter the Corkscrew Glades above the Falcon Chair, then cross Showdown and enter the Blackout Glades, following the fall line through some dense timber before ending up on OgoSlow. There are literally dozens of variations of this run–but don’t ride it alone.
For 2017, Big White joins Silver Star and Sun Peaks in breaking out a brand-new mountain bike park, which augments hundreds of kilometres of local riding in the region. Daytime temps can hit the low 40s in the summer down at the lake, but cool off significantly on the mountain.
