West Vancouver, B.C.
Cypress opened the floodgates this year with an injection of $1.2 million in upgrades, adding 18 new hydrants (for a total of 88 taps to supply the resort’s 47 snowmaking machines).
This means full top-to-bottom snow making, opening more terrain earlier in the season, and the ability to re-fresh slopes on the fly.
Guests can be sure popular runs like Collins, Eagle and Lions Express will have good, consistent coverage throughout the season.
Well known for having the best tree runs on the North Shore, Cypress has been working on creating even more gladed terrain in the off-season, opening up a big patch known as the Sunshine Face, skier’s right, halfway down Top Gun.
With the famed Hollyburn lodge in its first full season after an extensive reno, cross-country skiers can now enjoy a warm, communal lodge atmosphere (with a rich history) as they explore the area’s extensive trail system.
In the summer, Cypress is the gateway to incredible hiking (try to make it to the Lions if you’re feeling ambitious), and also popular with road cyclists looking to challenge themselves to a leg-burning climb followed by a white knuckle downhill bomb.
