When it comes to Mom ‘n’ Pop ski resorts, it doesn’t get any more authentic than Owl’s Head.
Overlooking the shore of Lake Memphremagog, this quaint resort has been owned by the Korman family since 1965.
Home to 52 trails spread across 130-plus acres of terrain, there’s plenty of goods to go around. After a big storm, head up the main quad and dive into the Kaboul and Kandahar glades before exploring the “kick pow” backcountry. Kids and beginners can get a feel for the mountain near Red Chair by riding Cindy’s Slip and Bambi Crossing. From here, progress towards Shady Lady and Lower Standard off the Blue Chair. With ski-in and ski-out hostel suites available in the main chalet and cozy hotel rooms, keep an eye out for Owl’s Head’s insanely affordable mid-week deals.
Once the warmer weather rolls around, guests can hike the mountain for free. There’s a series of short trails ranging from 1 to 2 km, or a full 12 km loop starting at the chalet. Owl’s Head’s also boasts an award-winning 18-hole golf course, a driving range and a practice area. Junior golf camps and clinics are available for an additional fee.
